Nearly everytime I turn on the climate control in my new Juke it makes a grunt sound. Sometimes the sound is more extensive than the grunt sound. I have had people look at my car from across the parking lot because they can here the sound. It seems to me as though it may be coming from the air compressor but I have had it checked out twice and my feedback from the Nissan mechanic was they all do this. I have not had a chance to hear how another one sounds so I am asking if anyone else has had this problem.

Once the climate control has been on and then you turn it off and back on it does not seem to do this then, just when I turn it on in the morning or in the afternoon when leaving work after it has sat for a period of time.

I notice that little grunt when I first turn on the A/C. I just thought it as the cheap design flaw. I don't llike having to always look at the A/C display. I'm driving and I may be playing with the temp. Knowing I originally had it on interior. Driving a while and then gee, it switched to 'exterior' mix air. All this computer play in the system and doing what it wants and I don't know it.

I have had this exact same problem. It's only when I first start the car that i'll turn on the A/C and it's a grunt, sometimes louder and longer than other times. It's quite annoying. I actually took it in to the Nissan dealer I bought it from and they said that it's just converting the energy from the battery to the A/C (it was a very vague answer). They said it's normal and most cars do that, but I beg to differ. I have two other cars that I have NEVER heard that noise before. They told me if it continues to do it, that I'll need to take it in again and they'll see what they can do. My dad, uncle, and grandpa were all mechanics before and they said they have never heard anything like that. I love my Juke, I just wish I could get this problem figured out and fixed! If you get anymore info on this, please post. I'll do the same.

I also have that problem and I took it to the dealer. They said that was normal. I said I never had a car that did that before and he said it was normal for the smaller cars like the Juke and the Versa. Does anyone know if the Versa does that? It is odd.

Mine also does the same thing. I took it to the dealer and they said the same thing - the air conditioner. I have found if you turn the auto climate off before you turn the engine off, next time you start the car...no noise.

Mine does the exact same thing and I have an SV model! The crap part is everytime I take it in and try to get them to hear it, it doesnt do it! Grrrrr anyone know what this is?
